Our volunteers were busy little bees at work yesterday! They were hand-crafting organic sugar scrubs for the body in a variety of sumptuous scents. We had such a great time tailoring our recipes. Our product is sure to be eye-catching at the West Palm Beach GreenMarket, where we are scheduled to have a booth for three separate Saturdays during the months of December, January, and March. Students selected the following scents to kick off our first event: Lemon Lime, Honeydew Melon, Wintergreen, Motivate (an invigorating and energetic combination of essential oils), Tropical Passion Fruit, and one of my favorites, Coconut Cream. All of our scrubs are derived of the very best essential oils, organic sugar and organic carrier oils. Use them in the tub or shower for smooth skin and a pleasant lingering scent. For the kitchen, we have a sophisticated hand soap and lotion duo, which also makes a fantastic gift for the holidays!
The action doesn’t stop at scrubs, however! One of our little bees created an original design that we are proud to be putting on a high quality white t-shirt with a new tagline for Phase II of our project. After much brainstorming and discussion, we have agreed upon the tagline: “Surface 71–Managing Water for Tomorrow”. Since 71% of our planet’s surface is covered in water, we felt that this catchy phrase would be a memorable talking point. The idea for the shirt was borne from many meetings with our city leaders, who were gracious enough to let us be a part of the GreenMarket. All of us wanted to have an apparel product that reflected our collaboration on water initiatives at the local level, in addition to conveying the many water related dilemmas that exist around the globe. This rough sketch is a preview of the product that evolved.
